Computer Programming 1 (CP1)
This September Acadia University will be launching CP1 (COMP 1113 N1), an online introductory Computer Science course for Grade 11 and 12 students. Students will explore programming and fundamental elements of Computer Science. The course will also provide students with a university credit, which they can apply to a future degree at Acadia or most other universities.
- Topics include an overview of computer science and career options; designing, programming, and testing computer software; fundamental techniques in software tools, graphics, and environments; and more.
- There is a major shortage of future graduates in the field of computer science, especially as many workers near retirement. Jobs for computer science graduates are available in a variety of fields, from video game development to systems analysis. Computer science careers involve problem solving, creativity, and group work.
- CP1 allows students to discover a new topic that may not be covered in their high school courses. Students will be able to learn if computer science is right for them.
- The course is offered entirely online, and includes interactive instructor sessions.
