Choosing a Course or Program
Choosing a Course
There are four important questions to consider when choosing your courses:
- Is this the course I want or need?
If you are unsure, please consult with your department head or dean prior to registration.
Course Load

Spring and Summer Courses |
Graduate Courses |
- Part-time undergraduate students may register for up to a total of 12 credit hours at one time.
- Full-time students should refer to the Course Load information in the Regulations section of the University Calendar found at the Registrar’s web site.
- Any open-entry distance course carried into the fall term will be considered part of your course load and may require the permission of your director or department head. It may also affect the amount of student loan you will qualify for.
|
A maximum of nine hours (9h) may be taken over the spring session and a maximum of (9h) over may be taken over the summer session, except in courses with a laboratory component where the maximum is six hours (6h).
Thus a maximum of eighteen hours (18h) may be taken between the winter semester and the subsequent fall semester.
|
A student registered in nine or more credit hours (9h) of graduate courses in a term is considered full time for that term.
Normally a full load is twelve hours (12h) per term.
It is recommended that students not exceed nine hours (9h) in either spring or summer sessions.
