About us:

Acadia University presents the opportunity to teach students in a beautiful setting, with the support of an established and progressive institution.  Acadia is one of Canada’s most historic and prestigious universities.  It has a long history of public acclaim: in the Maclean’s magazine rankings, the most recognized measure of postsecondary institution quality in Canada, Acadia is consistently ranked as one of the best overall undergraduate universities.  It has been ranked as the “Most Innovative” 15 times, and was the only university that has placed first in all four reputational categories.

Acadia has a long history of exploring flexible learning methods and embracing technology.  Laptops have been an integral part of an Acadia education since 1996, and the university has been appointed as a laureate of the Smithsonian Institution for its accomplishments.  ACIL brings Acadia’s hallmarks of interactivity, academic excellence, small class sizes, and high technology to the world of ESL instruction.

Learning environment:

Acadia is located in the town of Wolfville, Nova Scotia.  Nestled in Nova Scotia’s beautiful Annapolis Valley, Wolfville boasts a warm community with small-town charm, yet lays only a handful of minutes from shopping areas, and an hour’s drive from the provincial capital, Halifax.

The campus is comprised of historic buildings, with a classic university aesthetic—beautiful brick structures and climbing ivy are never far away—as well as exceptional new facilities, such as the architecture award-winning KC Irving Centre.  The Acadia campus features gardens, a full arena and artificial turf football field, a gym and green spaces, nearly a dozen residences for students, and most importantly of all, state-of-the-art classroom facilities.
