If you have been thinking about starting a university program in business, but cannot commit to the schedule of traditional classroom-based studies, Open Acadia's Certificate in Business Management is for you. This 30 credit-hour program will acquaint you with the different functional areas of business and the varied external issues that businesses must address in managing their affairs.  Collectively, the courses within the program cover the foundational knowledge, analytical techniques, and practical management skills that are applied to support decision making in the functional disciplines of finance, accounting, marketing, information systems, human resources, and operations.  All courses within the program can be applied towards Acadia’s Bachelor of Business Administration degree program.

The certificate program is comprised of 30 credit-hours of courses from the business program. We recommend that you contact the School of Business or Open Acadia for advice on beginning your program. Prerequisites for courses need to be considered in planning the sequence that courses are completed.

NOTE: The 30 credit hour program should include no more than 12 credit-hourse from the following: ECON 1013, 1023, 2613, Math 1613, and COMM 1213. All of these non-business courses are also required in the BBA degree.

 

Admission Requirements:

Nova Scotia high school completion (or equivalent) with a 70% average including Grade 12 math and English. Consideration may be given to applicants not meeting this criteria upon review of the most recent academic transcript, related work experience, and a letter indicating academic goals.
