Elder Planning Counselor Certificate

Open Acadia, in partnership with the Canadian Initiative for Elder Planning Studies (CIEPS), is pleased to offer the Elder Planning Counselor (EPC) Certificate.

The elder population is Canada’s fastest growing demographic. Advances in technology, better health care systems, and improved lifestyle habits have brought unprecedented changes in life expectancy. Today, 12 per cent of Canada’s population is over 65, and this percentage is expected to increase significantly in the 21st century.

In your work with elders you may be educating, providing medical or home care, offering financial or legal advice, coordinating information among and between institutions and care agencies, or serving on a health care team or advisory board. Whatever your role, the Elder Planning Certificate will give you the tools, knowledge and skills to best serve this growing market.

Topics include marketing to and communicating with elders; retirement, investment and income tax issues; social aspects of aging; Alzheimer's, dementias, and other medical issues; and much more.
