Summer Wind Conducting Symposium

For more information about this program in 2010 contact Dr. Mark Hopkins at mark.hopkins@acadiau.ca

The Program

The Acadia University Conducting Symposium has nurtured the growth of conductors around the world. Study and perform great repertoire with leading professional and collegiate musicians under the tutelage of world class instructors. Each participant's program is individualized, tailored to address the needs of the novice and expert alike.

This symposium attracts middle school band teachers, high school teachers, graduate students, community and professional conductors, offering an opportunity to develop conducting and ensemble leadership craft. There is limited room for Full Participants; registration is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Each day offers an opportunity to explore and address the issues all conductors face on the podium, whether you teach middle school band or work with professional musicians. A tentative schedule will be listed on the web site. Explore new repertoire, find tips and ideas to take back to your classes and ensembles. The chamber music will be performed by professional and collegiate musicians of high caliber.

Graduate credit options are open to qualified candidates. Enquiries about eligibility or course content should be directed to Dr. Mark Hopkins, mark.hopkins@acadiau.ca.
