Why Study English at Acadia?

Acadia University was founded in 1838 and is one of Canada's oldest and most distinguished universities.  Acadia is known for its small class sizes, leading-edge technology, and academic excellence. You'll learn on our beautiful campus in the charming town of Wolfville, Nova Scotia.  EAP students enjoy a safe, small town environment that provides the ideal setting to study English.

Our EAP program includes over 27 hours of classroom instruction each week on our beautiful campus.  Classes are small, allowing our instructors to give students individual attention.  The EAP program also includes Culture Class, where students will explore and learn about Canadian culture with trips to famous places and fun activities.

Am I ready for EAP?

The EAP Program is designed for students with some previous English experience. We recommend that you have studied English intensively for at least 2 years in your home country. If you have never studied English before, or only a little bit, you may find that the EAP 500 level is too difficult for you. If your level of English is not high enough for the EAP program, please contact us to arrange for Customized ESL Training.

Take the EAP Pre-Test

What EAP level will I be placed in?

The EAP program uses the CAEL test to place students in one of our four levels. If a student has already taken a CAEL or TOEFL iBT, they do not have to take our placement test. They can go directly into their appropriate level based on their score.

You will write the Acadia placement test on the first day of term to determine your EAP level.  If you have recently taken a CAEL, TOEFL iBT, or IELTS, you do not have to take our placement test.  You can go directly into your appropriate level based on your score. Remember to take the EAP Pre-Test before you come to make sure you are ready for the EAP program.
